Meeting With the Charities

Rain stops nothing!

We met on Friday with both Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research and Disability Challengers to discuss in some detail what we plan to do on this fund raiser, also to co-ordinate everyone to make sure that we're all aiming for the same ultimate goal - as much money to donate to these great charities as possible.

It was hosted at Leeroy's house and involved some team building exercises, a presentation of what we're going to be up to over the coming year in the run up to the trikes embarking on their 2,500 mile UK wide excursion, a cheeky mojito and then a focus group where we discusses how we can all help each other to maximise the fund raising of this event.

Despite the elements being against us, in true South African style, Leeroy kept true to his word and god the braai (BBQ) on the go. I think the food was amazing and was glad to be a part of the day.

Having previously worked with Disability Challengers before it was great to see Mady and Jessica again. I'd, personally, not spoken with either Ben or Hannah from Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research so it was great to meet them and start to build on a relationship that should progress over the coming year.

The photo's on the day were taken by Matt but I haven't got them yet to upload. They'll be here soon.

Next thing for me to do today is get the website, www.goingnowhereslowly.org.uk , up to date with where we are. Feel free to check it out!

Day 1 VW Trike Build

Kicking it all off, that's me, Jon Kelley, and in the background is the VW Mk3 Golf that we're about to chaw of all it's goodness.

This is Kev Lamport, without him I would definitely be lost. He's worked on VW's for a goo few years now - he'll be guiding me through the build.

Front bumper off showing us what we're after.

Quick peek of the top of the engine bay. All original parts there.

Going to be needing this later!

The seatbelts will do to take the engine weight.

Pic from UK passenger side of the bay prior to lifting the engine out.

And from UK drivers side.

Engine crane in place, first time I've used one of these!

Yoink!

There we go. The subframe out with all the trimmings attached. Soon to be the back end of my trike.

Need to grab all the electrics out of this bay before it's off to the scrap heap.

Always nice to see the English weather is on our side. Easily the biggest lightning storm this year and we're holding a massive chunk of metal. Great.

Hmmm, maybe we should have got the car out of the garage BEFORE we took the front off it. Oh well, we've done it now! Better give my mates a call to get the car wheeled out onto the road for the scrappers to pick up. Cheers Kev, Tom and Lee.

Definitely not an eyesore on the road, honest!

Dominated.

Moved back into the garage waiting for the next stage (getting the front end and designing the frame).
