Day 1 VW Trike Build

Kicking it all off, that's me, Jon Kelley, and in the background is the VW Mk3 Golf that we're about to chaw of all it's goodness.

This is Kev Lamport, without him I would definitely be lost. He's worked on VW's for a goo few years now - he'll be guiding me through the build.

Front bumper off showing us what we're after.

Quick peek of the top of the engine bay. All original parts there.

Going to be needing this later!

The seatbelts will do to take the engine weight.

Pic from UK passenger side of the bay prior to lifting the engine out.

And from UK drivers side.

Engine crane in place, first time I've used one of these!

Yoink!

There we go. The subframe out with all the trimmings attached. Soon to be the back end of my trike.

Need to grab all the electrics out of this bay before it's off to the scrap heap.

Always nice to see the English weather is on our side. Easily the biggest lightning storm this year and we're holding a massive chunk of metal. Great.

Hmmm, maybe we should have got the car out of the garage BEFORE we took the front off it. Oh well, we've done it now! Better give my mates a call to get the car wheeled out onto the road for the scrappers to pick up. Cheers Kev, Tom and Lee.

Definitely not an eyesore on the road, honest!

Dominated.

Moved back into the garage waiting for the next stage (getting the front end and designing the frame).
